This year marks DogFit’s 10th anniversary, and with it we’re celebrating one of the most heartfelt and inspiring parts of our journey – our My Story series. Over the past decade, we’ve had the privilege of sharing powerful, personal accounts from members of our community whose lives have been transformed by Canicross. Each story is unique, but all are united by a common thread: the bond between human and dog, and the strength found in getting fitter together.
To mark this milestone, each month we’ll revisit one of these incredible stories. We’ll reflect on the impact it had, what it represents to us as a Canicross community, and invite you to re-read the original article. Whether you’re new to DogFit or have been with us from the start, we hope these stories continue to inspire and remind you of the power of putting one foot – and paw – in front of the other.
Ginetta’s Story – From Non-Runner to Canicrosser
Back in 2015, our co-founder Ginetta George kicked off the My Story series with a candid admission: she had never seen herself as a runner.
Approaching her late forties and looking for a fun way to stay active, she decided to give Canicross a try with her dog, Coco. With the encouragement of her family and the support of a local group, she went from hesitant beginner to completing her first 10K within six months.

Ginetta’s story shows exactly what makes Canicross so special – it’s inclusive, social, and a fun way to combine fitness with spending quality time with your dog…whilst making lots of like-minded friends along the way! Her journey perfectly set the tone for what My Story has become: a celebration of ordinary people finding extraordinary motivation through the bond with their dogs.
